Clamshells updated/ Un reporte acerca de mis "Clamshells"

Little by little my clamshells quilt is growing. I knew from the beginning this wouldn't be one of those instant satisfaction kind of projects but I still decided to give it a try. Not only that, I was lucky enough to have some blog friends share their scraps of fabric with me to give this quilt a wide range of fabric prints, thank you ladies ;) !! The placement of the shells is hard enough for me to then start hesitating about which shell should be next. I just try to quickly pick the next shell without wondering if another print will look prettier in that spot. It's far from perfect but I still love it.

I'm appliquéing the shells by hand with the lovely Aurifil 50 wt. thread. The shells are all in different colors, but the appliqué stitches with this thread weight is barely noticeable. Poco a poco mi “clamshells” quilt va creciendo. Supe desde el principio que este no sería un proyecto rápido, de esos que te dan satisfacción al instante, aun así decidí empezarlo y no solo eso, sino que también tuve la suerte de que algunas lectoras de este blog compartieran de sus retazos de tela para así tener más variedad en este quilt, mil gracias chicas  ;) !! Coser los “shells” correctamente es suficientemente difícil como para preocuparme acerca de donde poner que pedazo de tela, así que solo tomo el siguiente rapidito sin preguntarme si algún otro retazo se vería más lindo en ese lugar. Mi quilt está lejos de la perfección pero a mi me gusta.

Estoy aplicando los shells a mano usando hilo Aurifil del número 50 y no importa mucho el color del hilo porque aunque los shells sean todos diferentes el hilo es tan delgadito que las puntadas ni se notan.

Pasando a otro asunto sobre el mismo tema, no se olviden de comentar en mi post del sorteo de hilos Aurifil ya que tienen la oportunidad de ganarse uno de los cinco juegos de hilos que sortearé. Mañana cerraré los comentarios para elegir a los cinco ganadores.
