The tiny blocks tutorial series/ Una serie de tutoriales de bloques chiquitos

I've spent some time planning and sewing little 4.5” blocks for my Fab Little Quilt Swap. In order to make this mini quilt I had to figure out the measurements for these blocks, and after all that work I thought: why not make them into a tutorial series, and that's how I came up with the idea for a "tiny blocks tutorial series."

These are the kind of blocks that you can use little crafty projects such as pouches, string bags, mug rugs, or coasters to say a few: little instant gratification projects to make in a weekend or so.

Today I'm giving you my first tiny block tutorial: Tiny Granny block. Is the block in the first picture of this post... Have you seen all those granny blocks going around on pinterest and Flickr?? I love how they look. So why not make a baby version of it!! I previously made a bigger version of the granny for a block swap and I loved how they turned out.

He pasado algo de tiempo planeando y cosiendo estos bloquecitos de 4.5” para mi Fab. Little Quilt Swap. Para hacer estos bloquecitos tuve que resolver el problema de las medidas para poder cortar los pedacitos de tela. Después de todo ese trabajo, pensé que era una buena idea compartirlo con ustedes en forma de tutoriales y así es como nació la idea de hacer una series de tutoriales de bloques chiquitos.

Estos son los tipos de bloques que se pueden usar en pequeños proyectos como lapiceras, bolsos con jareta, los famosos mug rugs, o porta vasos entre otros; esos proyectos que son instantáneamente gratificantes y que se pueden hacer en un fin de semana.

Hoy les comparto el primer tutorial: un Tiny Granny block, que es el bloquecito en la primera foto de este post. Han visto todos esos granny squares en Pinterest y Flickr?? Me encantan! Así que porque no hacer uno tamaño bebé!! Hace tiempo hice unos de unos cuantos de estos bloques pero de 12.5” para un swap y me encantó como quedaron.
