Carpe diem

Since I stitched Alex's letterings, José (the hubs) and I have been playing with words, and sayings. He came up with this "carpe diem ante diem crape" phrase with regard to our transition process. So why not, I decided to give it a try with some cross stitching. He took me into the city to find some colored aida without much luck, not even white aida. The truth is that around here imports have been restricted by law. C'mon, not everything can produced by the people of the republic.

Looking through my fabric stash, I realized I could use some of this graph paper fabric. The squares aren't to big or to small, just perfect. I wanted to finish it for fathers's day but it didn't happen. It wasn't an issue at all. On the contraire, I think he was quite pleased that I embroidered the words he came up with.

Desde que bordé el poster de Alex, José (mi esposo) y yo nos la hemos pasado jugando con palabras y frases. A él fue que se le ocurrió esto de "carpe diem ante diem crape" que es algo así como disfruta el día antes que se ponga... feo" en referencia a nuestro proceso de transición. Así que por qué no?!? me gustó la idea y decidí que la quería hacer en punto de cruz. José me llevó al centro de la ciudad y buscamos aida de color por todos lados  pero no encontramos nada, nisiquiera aida blanca. La verdad es que las importaciones han sido restringidas por ley y obviamente el país no lo puede producirlo todo.

Repasando mis telas, me encontré con esta tela impresa como papel cuadriculado. Los cuadritos no son ni muy grandes ni muy chiquitos, perfectos! Quería terminar este bordado para el día del padre pero no sucedió así. Cero drama, más bien me parece que le gustó que haya bordado la frase que  a él mismo se le ocurrió.
