Last May I bought
three craft books. For many reason Mary Thomas's Dictionary of Embroidery Stitches is the one I've been enjoying the most. This book has many, many stitches that I haven't see before, and some others I wanted to give a try at some point.
This has been my "carry around" project for the last week, and I love it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I get the feeling that most of the stitches I picked so far are for smoking, and even for embroidering crazy quilts.
Anyhow,
I'm enjoying the making of this sampler. Hopefully, I get to fill up
the whole area of my hoop so that I can hang it up on my wall.
Yo
Oh, I love the colors you chose for your sampler and the stitches are so fine. Inspiring!

Thank you Cristy! I didn't know how it will turn out so I better use some nice matching emb. floss. So far so good.

Gorgeous Paloma. you are so neat. I hope you meant "Smocking" not smoking!

Hi Salley, I was wondering if it was the same word for that embroidery technique. I guess the difference is a capital "S". Then yes, I meant Smocking ;)

Hi Paloma! It was the "c" that you missed out ...never mind.... your work is so lovely no matter how it is spelt. I too am stitching currently...not as even stitching as yours however.
Have you tried Valdani threads? A little thicker than perl 8....thus it gets the job done more quickly!

Hi Salley! I'd love to see what you're stitching. I never heard of the Valdani thread but I kind of get an idea of what you're talking about. For this sampler I'm using three strands of DMC embroidery floss. I
At some point I'd like to try different threads.
