I read about The Happy Flag Project via Such Designs and I couldn't resist making a couple of them.
The making of a flag to greet His Holiness The Dailai Lama made me feel happy and already blessed. The idea of the wind carrying my prayer along with thousands of prayers more from people of many different creeds, makes me think that there's a chance for us to live in harmony with others and with nature itself.

It's hard not to explore a different way carve my lino plate. This is a sketch I've been wondering about for quite some time. Why was I doubt full?? I thought that it doesn't relate to my past "random pieces" which in the end were not so random. I showed my work to a fellow artist and she suggested to go in any direction, to explore. We believe that in the end, after the 52 prints are done, there should be some congruency.
Between kitchen disasters, back to school shopping, Summer crafty afternoons, and the boredom of my daughters, I finished carving this plate. I printed my A/P on tissue paper with my 9 yr. old daughter turning the wheel of the press. It still needs a few twitches; on the other hand I really like how tissue paper takes the ink.

One thing leads to another, I believe the trick is to keep going and trying everything that comes to mind. I want to try new ideas and also the many different variations, and repetitions. I think that at some point all that I make will interconnect one way or another.
This is a linocut, 6" by 6".

And I was wondering what I was going to make with all the random plates. Looks like giving myself into the process can be more fun and joyful that purposely planning a finished product. It's a big monoprint, 18" x 24" on Hahnemuhle paper (plus the paper that is left around.) It barely fits onto the press bed. It took me two days printing it, and I had such a good time mixing colors and carefully printing one element at the time so that I didn't mess up.
It's all about seeds and pods flying in the air, going into the world to find their potential.
