A tea moment with Miss O. was the perfect opportunity to use this lovely pot holder by Avalanden. It was part of a private swap, it came with another pot holder,and some yummy Kokka fabric. Thank you my friend!!

 
She told me her long term plans, then she left me for the cat and I got a chance to take a look at my new book. The Modern Crosses quilt in the front of the book caught my attention, and  after looking through it  at Borders I decided it was a 'must have.'

 
This week I spent a great deal of time writing a tutorial for the Tissue Box Cozy. I went over the instructions and made another cozy to make sure the tutorial actually works out, and it does!! Do you write your notes by hand?? I must be one of the few people that still uses paper and pencil to write four pages long notes. I guess is part of the craft. Hopefully, next week I will find the time to put it in the computer, make it presentable, and available to you.

A random finding: I found a few of my pictures at Pinterest. I didn't know from that site. It was a lovely surprise to find my pictures there; I feels good to know people likes what I make.

Crocheted coasters.

 
I'm the kind of person that just can't sit still. I need to keep using my hands. I love the kind of craft that is easy to take with me. I can work on it while they are doing homework, practicing their violin,reading out loud for me, while watching TV...

I love these coasters. They're so simple to make and yet so satisfying. I started with a row of 10 chain stitches, I wont explain the rest because it's obvious. I learned basic crocheting stuff at elementary school in Peru, when crocheting, embroidery and that kind of skills were part of any young lady's education. Don't take me wrong, I'm not that old, just in my mid thirties... Who will tell that something I learned so long ago will keep my hands at peace.

Tissue box cozy

 

Since I’m such a visual person I need things to look good; and correct me if I’m wrong but tissue boxes are ugly!! I truly dislike seeing those brown, gray, and lilac boxes with the “Kleenex” branding on the corner at various places around my home. I decided it was time to take things into my own hands and I made a cozy to be at peace with the ugly Kleenex box. After a couple of tries, I got this little project right. Let me tell you it was a bit tricky to make it the right size. The cardboard folds did mess with me badly when trying to get the right measurements.  

I used some pretty gray linen from my stash, and a few yummy fabric scraps. And I held the lining in place with some hand stitching. I even had my light bulb moment and added my little label to it, after all it’s an original design. A couple more of these cuties and I will have it all figured out to offer it to you.

Owl T-shirt

 

Spring is in the air! and since there will be lots of spring cleaning to do, why not take the opportunity to pretty up a t-shirt or two. Am I talking in rhyme??

 
I made my own design, it's a doodle left behind on a notebook from long ago. And because this is for my girly girl, I added some free hand embroidery. She loves it, and so do I. I used some thin interfacing in the back of the t-shirt to avoid stretching the t-shirt.  I also used some 'Heat and Bond' for the eyes (not mine, the owl's) to stay in place and little pieces here and there to keep the owl in place for stitching.  I have a couple of "blank" t-shirts more to work on, so I'll be back soon to show you :)
