Three Kitchen Fairies: A very South American quilt/ Un quilt con estilo Sudamericano

When life gives you lemons you make lemonade, right?? That's one of those sayings that I like keeping in mind. I got this Aguayo fabric at an artisans market in Salta, Argentina. It's a traditional woven fabric produced originally in Argentina, Chile. Bolivia, and Perú. What made me fall in love with it, is the wide range of color it has, just my kind of thing... For me there nothing gets closer to the colorful culture, dances and music of the Andes as Aguayo fabric does.

So, I used my Kona fabric color chart to pick out my fabrics, only solids this time. And Brenda from Pink Castle Fabrics worked her magic, and got me each Kona color I asked her for. She's pretty awesome!!

I drew my quilt, I cut my fabrics, I added some Aurifil thread to the mix, and so far so good. I love the blast of color I'm getting. I'll have a very South American looking quilt.

I'm off to sew more blocks!!

Dicen en EEUU, que cuando la vida te da limones no hay más que hacer limonada, tiene sentido... Ese es uno de los dichos que hay tener en mente todo el tiempo. Compré esta tela Aguayo en un mercado de artesanías en Salta, Argentina. Es una tela hecha en telar, que se produce mayormente en el norte de Argentina, Chile, Bolivia y Perú. Lo que me encanta de esta tela es la cantidad de colores que tiene. Para mí, nada describe con mayor similitud la cultura, los bailes, y la música de los Andes como lo hace la tela Aguayo.

Usé mi muestrario de colores de Kona para escoger las telas de colores solidos que quería usar y Brenda de Pink Castle Fabrics mágicamente logró conseguirme cada uno de los colores que le pedí. Brenda realmente sabe lo suyo, es increíble!!

Dibujé mi quilt, corté mis telas, agregé mis hilos Aurifil en el mix. Estoy fascinada con los resultados!! Creo que tendré un quilt con un sabor muy Sudamericano.
