It was ridiculous not to take advantage of his traveling plans, so way ahead of time I ordered a few books, some fabrics, and some Aurafil thread too (that I forgot to include in the picture) for him to bring.
The Alabama Studio Sewing is a gift from my mom. I love everything about that sewing technique. I actually sewed a couple of projects from the very fist book that I never got to post.
"The dictionary of embroidery stitches" was a "must have" at this point, and I'm having such a good time learning some new stitches already.
I also got a fabric design book out of curiousity, I used to love silkscreening but that was long time ago. Who knows, maybe I get inspired again and I try some experiments.
The fabrics are Kona solids I got from Brenda at her lovely store Pink Castle Fabrics. She's a pretty awesome at selling fabrics and making her clientele happy. I'm specially tickled by this Prairie Braid foundation panel. I saw a picture of a WIP Brenda was sewing and posting on Twitter, and I bought a panel from her fabric store as well.
I'm feeling recharged in my craftiness, and I'm just hoping it lasts for a long time ;)
Mi esposo viajó a los Estados Unidos la semana pasada. Tuvo suficiente tiempo para salir a cenar con algunos de nuestros amigos en Michigan y ni les digo la envidia que teniamos las niñas y yo.
Era ridículo no aprovechar este viaje de mi marido, así que con tiempo planeé y compré algunos libros via internet; así como tambien algunas telas y un poco de hilos de Aurifil (que no llegaron a la foto pero están acá conmigo) para que me los trajera a la vuelta.
El libro de Alabama Studio Sewing es un regalo de mi madre. Me encanta todo acerca de esta técnica de costura. De hecho, cosí en algún momento algunos de los proyectos de camisetas recicladas que venían en el primer libro pero nunca colgué las fotos en mi blog.
"El diccionario de puntadas de bordado" ya era más que nada una necesidad. Apenas lo recibí lo empecé a usar, ya estoy aprendiendo nuevas puntadas...
También me compré un libro acerca de diseño de telas. Hace muchos años me encantaba hacer serigrafía; tal vez me inspire y empiece a experimentar con esta técnica otra vez.
Las telas son Kona Solids de la tienda de Brenda: Pink Castle Fabrics. Ella es fantástica vendiendo sus telas y haciendo todo lo posible por tener a su clientela contenta. Esta tela me tiene especialmente emocionada. Es un panel con el dibujo de una trenza (Prairie Braid) que se va cosiendo sobre el mismo panel de la misma manera en que se cose la técnica del “paper piecing” o "técnica del papel" como lo he oido nombrar por acá. Brenda estaba cosiendo una de estas trenzas y mostraba las fotos en Twitter; me gustó mucho como le iba quedando así que me compré un panel también de su tienda. Por cierto, Brenda también hace envios internacionales además de tener una gran, pero gran variedad de telas. Visítenla acá, o en su tienda etsy.
Esta comprita me hace sentir con mucha energía acerca de esto de coser. Ahora solo espero que me dure por mucho tiempo ;)
I have an OLD copy of the Mary Thomas embroidery book. It's a good one. and yeah, Brenda's pretty good at the sales thing.... Ask me how I know.

I'm really happy I picked out that book from among others. I like it a lot. LOL, I know you must be one of Brenda's best *returning* clients ;)
