Embroidery stitches/ Puntadas de bordado

Last May I bought three craft books. For many reason Mary Thomas's Dictionary of Embroidery Stitches is the one I've been enjoying the most. This book has many, many stitches that I haven't see before, and some others I wanted to give a try at some point. 

En Mayo de este año encargué tres libros. Por muchas razones el diccionario de puntadas de bordado de Mary Thomas es el que ha acaparado toda mi atención. Este libro tiene muchas puntadas de bordado que nunca había visto y otras tantas que desde hace tiempo quería intentar.

This has been my "carry around" project for the last week, and I love it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I get the feeling that most of the stitches I picked so far are for smoking, and even for embroidering crazy quilts.

Este es el bordado que he traido en el bolso últimamente y estoy encantada con él. No se si me equivoco, pero muchas de las puntada que he intentado hasta ahora parecen puntadas de punto smock o puntadas para bordar en un crazy quilt.

Anyhow, I'm enjoying the making of this sampler. Hopefully, I get to fill up the whole area of my hoop so that I can hang it up on my wall. 

Yo estoy disfrutando no importa para que exáctamente sirvan estas puntas. Espero llegar a llenar todo el espacio de mi aro de bordar para después colgarlo en mi pared.

 

Tablet envelope/ Sobre para tablet

Those little blocks I made ove the weekend are so small and cute that I couldn't helpf it but to keep coming back to my sewing table to look at them one more time. I arranged them over and over until after much deliberation about what to make with them I decided to make an envelope for my bambo tablet. Besides the Mendocino fabrics, and some scraps I used so beautiful linen I bouth during our last vacation to Buenos Aires. I'm glad I bought the whole meter (60 something inches wide,) it has such a nice quality, and just a tad of texture. They ladies at the store called it something like dotted linen. 

Eso bloquecitos que hice el fin de semana pasado son tan chiquitos y lindos que me tuvieron a las vueltas a mi mesa de costura para verlos una vez más. Los acomodé de diferentes maneras hasta que por fin decidí como era que los iba  usar y me hice un sobre para mi Bamboo tablet. Aparte de usar las telitas de Mendocino usé también un poco del un lino hermoso que compré un nuestro último viaje a Buenos Aires. Me gusto tanto trabajar con el que estoy muy contenta de haber comprado todo el metro que aparte es anchísimo. este lino tiene una linda textura, me decían en la tienda que es lino jaspeado.

The zipper was not such a pain in the neck as I tought it will be. Still I had to palce it around the top right corner. If placed from with to left the table would barely fit. So I went for a looser fit. The linning is some letf over fabric from my circles quilt from AGF. I added a pocket to keep all the accesories handy. 

El cierre no fue tan difícil como lo esperaba, aun así lo situé alrededor de la esquina superior derecha, ya que si usaba el cierre de lado a lado, la tablet apenas pasaría por el cierre. La tela que usé para el forro es de AGF que me quedó del quilt de círculos que hice al principio del año. Le agregué un bosillito para tener los accesorios a la mano.

I'm really like how it turned out, the best part is that my tablet will be 'properly" protected from this dusty environment. 

Me encantó como quedo el sobre, la mejor parte es que mi tablet estará propiamente protegida del polvo.

Tiny blocks/ Bloquecitos

I forgot that the sampler that gave place to the tiny blocks tutorials is not in my hands. The sampler was actually made for a swap. Last weekend I made some of the blocks all over again, so that I can use them in something special for myself. I finally cut through my Mendocino stash.

Me olvidé que el sampler que dio lugar al los tutriales de bloquecitos no es mío; el sampler fue hecho para un intercambio. El fin de semana pasado hice algunos de los bloques otra vez, con la idea de usarlos en algo especial para mí. Finalmente me atreví a cortar mi pila de telas de Mendocino.

Don't you treasure some fabrics until you can hold yourself any longer from cutting through it??

Ustedes no atesoran sus telas hasta que no aguantan más las ganas de cortarlas para hacer algo especial??

Wee pinwheel/ Mini rehilete

Drunkard's path.

Trying to be quiet is like trying to claim Mount Everest for me. Look at me, I lasted only two posts for the August Break. I'll try again later.Today I want to post about of these Drunkard's path kind of blocks. I started this quilt almost a year ago. I made my husband turn around the still packed boxes of our garage to find these fabrics, and the templates... and he found them. He's such a nice guy.

Couple of days ago I started looking at the blocks, and with lots of discipline I pieced whatever was already cut.

Estar callada es para mi como escalar el Everest. No duré ni dos días con el August Break. Lo intentaré otra vez en algún otro momento. Hoy les quiero contar acerca de estos bloques, son una variación de el Drunkard path. Empecé este quilt hace ya casi un año. Hace unas semanas le pedí a mi esposo que me ayudara a buscar las telas y los moldes en las cajas (que aún no desempacamos) del garage. Tan buena gente, volteó el garage de un lado al otro hasta que los encontramos. 

Empecé a ver los bloques y con mucha disciplina cosí lo que ya estaba cortado.

 

 

The blocks weren't speaking to me. The seams were difficult to match, I felt they have to much of the grey background. I was starting to feel out of steam for this project which is really a shame since I planned it so carefully.

Cosía y cosía y no me ispiraba, los bloques no me decían mucho: las costuras son difíciles de empatar, sentía que tenían mucho gris de fondo. Sentía que perdía el tiempo con estos bloques, lo cual es una pena habiendo planeado este quilt tan cuidadosamente.

 

 

I started playing with the blocks, arranging in various ways. I think it's finally talking to me.

I want this to be at least a twin size quilt again. That's the perfect size for me, and the largest I can quilt with my sewing machine.

Entonces empecé a jugar con los bloques, a acomodarlos de distintas maneras hasta que por fin le encontré la vuelta y me gustó la idea de seguir con este quilt. Quiero hacerlo de una plaza más o menos, ese es el tamaño perfecto para mi y el tamaño mas grande que puedo acolchar con mi máquina de coser.

It couldn't get more "Southamerican" than this... It's just the quilt top. I'm thinking of adding a fun fringe to the edge instead of the traditional binding. What do you think??

No puede ser más Sudamericano de lo que es... Es solo la parte de arriba del quilt. Estoy pensando en agregarle un borde de esos de flecos o de pelotitas de colores en vez del biés tradicional de un quilt. Qué les parece la idea??
